The Doctoral School of Economic Sciences “Eugeniu Carada” was established in the academic year 2005–2006. Beginning with October 1st, 2012, the University of Craiova reorganized its doctoral education structure by creating the Doctoral School of Social and Human Sciences, encompassing five scientific domains and eleven doctoral study fields. Later, as of October 1st, 2015, the Doctoral School of Economic Sciences was re-established and continues to operate successfully to this day, offering six accredited fields of study: Accounting; Management; Finance; Economics; Cybernetics and Statistics; Economic informatics. The mission of the Doctoral School of Economic Sciences “Eugeniu Carada” is to provide society with solid benchmarks for development through advanced research in economics and business administration. The doctoral curriculum is designed to foster the advancement of knowledge in both complementary scientific areas and within the specific domain of each doctoral thesis. During the advanced training phase, doctoral students take courses related to their research specialization, while during the scientific research phase, they are required to elaborate and defend at least four scientific research reports. Since its establishment, the Doctoral School of Economic Sciences (SDSE) has pursued three key objectives:
In addition, the Doctoral School has continuously focused on consolidating an interdisciplinary doctoral environment, harmonizing the Bachelor – Master - Doctorate educational pathways, and enhancing the overall quality of education and scientific research. These goals are central to the strategic mission of both the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and the Doctoral School of Economic Sciences “Eugeniu Carada”. The doctoral programs offered by DSES aim to develop strong theoretical and methodological competencies, enabling doctoral students to conduct analyses and provide scientifically grounded solutions at both micro and macroeconomic levels. Consequently, the Doctoral School welcomes candidates who are ready to meet the new challenges of economic evolution in a context defined by globalization, academic excellence, and continuous personal and professional development. The admission process for the Doctoral School of Economic Sciences consists of a single examination, involving the presentation of a doctoral research proposal that must align with one of the research areas established by the doctoral supervisor.
